FromSoftware’s Elden Ring has been delayed. Set to release on January 21st 2022, it’s now been delayed to February 25th 2022. In an official tweet, the development team stated that the overall depth and “strategic freedom” offered had exceed initial expectations. It thanked players for their “trust and patience” and asked them to look forward to the closed network test in November.
Initially announced at E3 2019, Elden Ring saw a lack of new details and updates until the recent Summer Games Showcase. Along with the first official gameplay footage, the release date was announced and current-gen platforms added to the line-up. Many new details have been revealed ever since including the inclusion of fast travel, crafting, platforming and much more.
Such a delay isn’t completely unexpected. Despite stating that it’s in the final stages of development, the COVID-19 pandemic has affected development across the world, resulting in numerous big games being delayed. Elden Ring is currently slated to release for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5 and PC so stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.
Important message:
ELDEN RING will release on Feb 25, 2022, as the depth & strategic freedom of the game exceeded initial expectations. Thank you for your trust & patience. We look forward to seeing you experience the game in the Closed Network Test in Nov.
