Pokemon games’ pre-release marketing doesn’t ever really break tradition, and tends to follow a very specific style and formula, but appropriately enough, The Pokemon Company is taking a different approach with Pokemon Legends: Arceus.
A newly released teaser (which doesn’t show actual gameplay) shows via a found footage format a man out in the snowy wilds of the Hisui region, where he finds a pack of wild Snorunt first, before chancing on a Pokemon that sounds like either Growlithe or Arcanine, before being viciously mauled to death by it. Or at least it sounds like he’s getting mauled to death- it’s open to interpretation, I guess.
Of course, given the period setting of Pokemon Legends: Arceus, one has to wonder how this person is even recording footage. Maybe he’s using the Arc Phone? More importantly, one has to wonder what the purpose of this teaser is- are we going to see a full-fledged trailer coming up soon? Here’s hoping.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus launches for the Nintendo Switch on January 28, 2022.
